Pillars of truth

 ¹⁴ I am writing these things to you, hoping to come to you before long; ¹⁵ but in case I am delayed, I write so that you will know how one should act in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth 1 Timothy 3:14-15

Paul gave a detailed list of qualifications for people who wanted to serve as deacons and leaders in the church. Leadership is always under scrutiny by the public and when leaders fail to lead with the qualifications listed it will bring damage to their personal lives as well as the reputation of the church. Unfortunately, some people reject becoming a believer in Christ or a member of a church because they see hypocrisy among the leaders and members of the church. Living lives that are above reproach, and a clear conscience should be the desire of every leader. It does not mean that false accusations will be brought against them, but the truth will prevail and vindicate them. The church or body of believers in Jesus have an important role in the world to declare the truth and live by the truth to be an example to a fallen world.
